We’re continually updating this guide since we originally first posted it in early 2020, shortly after recreational adult use cannabis became in legal in Illinois. After an amazing, historic first weekend, we wanted to help keep the momentum going. There was a lot to cover, at the time, and being a source of information, we wanted to provide as many details as possible.
If you were there that first weekend and waited in some of those lines, you probably found a shortage in every cannabis product originally available when you got to the front. There was a lot of news about flower running out, if you remember. What little supply there was had been reserved for cannabis medical card holders.
Obviously, a lot has happened since then, so it feels like years ago at this point. But since we first posted this article, so many new and different kinds of products are now out there for you to sample, so we regularly add as many of those to this post when we can. So, here’s the best edibles in Chicago, and where to buy them..
Now what makes these edibles the best?
We consider the ones the best that are consistently popular, and the best reviewed out of the ones we come across. Some of these are relatively easy to get, some are under the radar. So much of that depends on what area of the state you’re in, and your proximity to the city. Check it out:
Mindy’s Edibles is hands down one of the best edibles companies on the scene today, located here in Chicago. Led by James Beard award-winning chef Mindy Segal, this artisanal company has created a first rate line of edibles in partnership with Cresco Labs. Products include gummies, fruit chews, hard candies, and chocolates, with careful attention paid to proper dosing of THC and CBD. Indulge in flavors such as glazed clementine orange, cool key lime kiwi, and lush black cherry. Check out where to get some of this amazing product through the site’s store locator here.
If you’re into Delta 8, you’re in luck. 3Chi has a robust line of edibles, including gummies, tinctures, cookies,
brownies, and our personal favorite – cereal treats. Average dosage per edible is 50 mg. Just go to the main menu
and select “edibles” to see what they have to offer. And don’t forget, one of the advantages of Delta 8 is that
interstate delivery is not illegal. Just as long as the delivery is from one legal state to another.
incredibles is based out of Colorado, an award winning company that produces a variety of products. Their most notable one is their line of chocolates bars. According to their site, the difference in their products is the oil, as well as the extraction process. Committed to helping others, this company has an impressive footprint and track record in helping medical caregiving and education. Check out their store locator for lots of Illinois locations here.
Now, we know this one isn’t Chicago, technically, but it’s worth mentioning since so many of you are in central or downstate Illinois. If you’re a medical card holder, this might be of further interest to you. Just over the state border in St. Louis, this company makes artisan chocolates and real fruit gumdrops, available in Missouri medical dispensaries. Choose from dark chocolates topped with espresso, caramel, and toffee, or milk chocolates with toasted coconut and sea salt. Yum.
This company is a small bakery in Chicago that makes infused items. They don’t seem to have a dedicated site, so you’ll have to reach out to them through their above linked Instagram page. Offering items such as the chewy and freshly made strawberry dream cookies, you can’t go wrong. Also, be sure to follow them regularly, as they’re looking to open a stand alone location soon.
Similar to 3Chi, Elevated Wellness has a handful of cool Delta 8 products to choose from. Go to the main menu, select “shop now,” and you will see the complete inventory available for purchase. You can choose from the pure extract, terpene infused extract, or the tincture. If you want a tincture, you can choose either 1500mg or 3000 mg. Not bad for mail order.
Not only is this another small business that you’ll have to follow on Instagram, you’ll have to have a referral to do business with them. So do with that what you will. Offering great baked treats such as fudge filled center brownies and 200 mg chocolate chip cookies, it may be worth your time to work on getting that referral.
Mona’s partners oftentimes with some of the other edibles makers and caterers we’ve mentioned in the past. They specialize in cocktails and infused drinks. If this is your thing, check them out, especially with the summer months coming.
CBD Edibles is bakery focusing on holistic health, located out of the Chicago area. Their products are CBD based, as you can tell from their name, and contain no THC at all. They use a full spectrum of hemp oil, with the goal of helping customers with anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, and more. The chocolate chip cookies and brownies are said to be first rate, and effectively mask the CBD oil. Find out more about their products and where to buy here.

What about making your own?
We’ve covered that, too. Some people prefer to make their own. That way, you have complete control over dosages, as well as making your recipes just the way you want them. If you want to try that, check out our recipes for making coconut oil, butter, and wine… yes, wine.
